Conditions were perfect. Finally. We finally got to fish without a cold front or some other negatively impactful force of nature. We took advantage. 28 anglers descended upon the Chowan area for our first trailer tournament of the year. By the end of the day Sunday those anglers had weighed in 445 lbs of largemouth. Quite an accomplishment!
David led the way, winning the weekend tourney with North of 31 lbs. He also took home some cash on Saturday winning with 16.50 lbs.
Owen recovered from a lackluster Saturday to catch over 20 lbs on Sunday for the win (taking the lead for biggest sack of the year), and also got big fish with this 8+ lb big chungus. His combined weights brought him over 30 lbs, good enough for 2nd on the weekend.
Greg continued his string of excellence in the Chowan area bringing over 28 lbs to the scales in the 2 days. That was good enough for 3rd on the weekend.
Grabbing 4th, while cashing both days, was Stevie. His 2 day total over 26 lbs was just 1/100th of a lb better than 5th, but hey – points are points!
OF course a weekend this amazing wouldn’t be complete without a true BIG CHUNGUS coming to the scales. Don reeled in this 9.29 lb giant on Saturday, taking the lead for the biggest fish of the year. Wow!
Full results are below. Next up we go to Kerr on May 14.
